It all started well last night. I got upgraded to business class, albeit only on the flight to Istanbul, but anyway. I had an uneventful flight to Johannesburg, queued at immigration, went to the baggage carousel and found a suitcase that looked very similar to mine! What can I say? Turns out somebody had taken my suitcase by mistake…
Mark had been very kind to arrange a pickup for me from the airport and it was great to see Martina and Mark at their home, where we had some time to spend together waiting for my suitcase. And off we went at around 15:30, picked up my stuff, that in the meantime had been returned to the airport, and are now heading south. It is an endless road from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Still another 700 km to go. It is a large country. And it gets pitch black at around 19:00, at which point driving becomes somewhat of an adventure. In addition we were driving through a rather heavy storm. Another hour and we will arrive at a small campsite in Colesberg where we will stay for the night and test the rooftop tent for the first time.
Good luck guys. Will be following you, hope the tent does not leak.
Wishing you guys a wonderful trip.. Make some memories!
Enjoy the beauty of South Africa
All the best wishes
